Utilities Commission Chairman Robert Crawford, after interviewing internal candidates last week, met in Executive Session with Commission members Thursday night to discuss who will be hired to replace outgoing Leitchfield Utilities Superintendent Kevin Pharis.
Commission members emerged from the closed door session and announced Dwight Embry will replace Pharis. Embry has served on the Utilities Commission for the last nine years.
“I’m excited about the challenge, and I’m looking forward to it,” Embry said after being named the new Superintendent. “I like a challenge and new opportunities; that’s one of the reasons I took this job, it’s something new.”
Embry will officially begin his new position on June 30, which will enable him to grasp the nature of the position for a few weeks prior to Pharis’ retirement on July 31.
