COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) — A former drug task force director in northern Kentucky has been sentenced to a year and one day in prison on a federal theft charge.
Tim Fegan resigned as director of the federally funded Buffalo Trace/Gateway Area Narcotics Task Force in 2012 after financial irregularities were discovered. He pleaded guilty in March to a single count of stealing government funds after being indicted last year on three counts of theft.
The Ledger Independent (http://bit.ly/1kUvCOA) reports Fegan also was ordered to repay the government $97,414 during his sentencing hearing Thursday in U.S. District Court in Covington.
The task force, based in Maysville, was organized by several county and city governments and investigated drug crimes in various northern and eastern Kentucky counties. It ceased operations last year.
