The Grayson County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Caneyville Fire Department, responded to a motorcycle wreck at 403 South Main Street in Caneyville Sunday night about 11:30.
A Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorcycle, driven by 26-year old Phillip Michael Beasley, was traveling south on South Main when Beasley lost control of the bike and left the roadway at 316 South Main Street. Beasley drove alongside the road in adjoining yards for approximately 150 feet before striking a culvert, which runs under the driveway at 318 South Main Street, directly across from Southland Drive.
Upon impact, Beasley came off the motorcycle, and struck the concrete culvert. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Deputy Adam Cottrell, the high rate of speed Beasley was traveling propelled the motorcycle across the road, 140 feet beyond the impact site; with several gouges, caused by the motorcycle bouncing, visible in the pavement.
Beasley received a speeding citation from a Kentucky State Trooper just over two weeks ago.
