The Grayson County Sheriff’s Department and EMS personnel responded just outside of Caneyville to the 2000 block of Bowling Green Road (Hwy 185) a little before 8:00 on Wednesday night.
Witnesses told police a white pick-up truck, make and model unknown, was traveling south on Bowling Green Road when a white male was tossed onto the roadway from the back of the truck. The truck continued driving south without stopping.
After being thrown from the vehicle, the man walked into a cornfield at 2630 Bowling Green Road. He emerged from the field a quarter-mile south from where he entered, and in front of Cumberland Church of God of Prophecy. The church was having its Wednesday night service, and someone from inside the building stepped outside and noticed the man walking near the church.
Before first responders arrived at the scene, and not knowing law enforcement had been contacted, the church member took the injured man to a residence on Hwy 238, in Edmondson County.
Upon arriving in the area, and not knowing the man had been ferried away, deputies made contact with the witness, and a search for the thought-to-be-missing man commenced. It was several minutes after the search began that Deputies were informed that the man had been taken away by someone from the church.
Since the man was now located in Edmonson County, Grayson County Sheriff’s Deputies and EMS cleared the scene and notified Edmonson County authorities.
