Utilities Commission to refinance loan, Vickery to handle potential litigation

At Thursday night’s Leitchfield Utilities Commission meeting, the water plant, after an administration review by an Area Wide Optimization Program, was deemed fully optimized according to the program’s standards. The technical portion of the review will be completed in the upcoming weeks.
The Commission agreed to refinance an RD load at a savings of $318,000.00 over the next 22 years. The loan, originally financed in 1995 at 4.5 percent, will be refinanced at 3.62 percent.
The Commission then entered into Executive Session to discuss litigation and a personnel issue. The Commission emerged from the session and announced that Commission attorney David Vickery would offer legal aid in dealing with the potential litigation, while out-going Utilities Superintendent Kevin Pharis will address the personnel issue before his retirement on July 31.
