Tragedy strikes Caneyville family as 14-year old boy killed in ATV accident

The Grayson County Sheriff's Department is not yet releasing the name of a 14-year old Caneyville boy who was killed in an ATV accident on Sunday evening about 6:30.

The young man was traveling east in the 1000 block of Old Dog Creek Road when, coming out of a curve and going downhill, he lost control of the ATV, hitting an embankment and throwing him from the vehicle (Old Dog Creek Road is a winding, one-lane, gravel roadway).

County road worker Steve Mahurin was out for a leisurely drive when he drove up on the accident. He immediately called emergency workers and waited at the scene.

Along with the Grayson County Sheriff Rick Clemons and Deputy Buck Meredith, the Canevyville Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene.

This runs counter to news reporting protocol, but -- All premature death is tragic, but the tight-knit family of this young man could certainly use prayers as they deal with his devastating death.
