Fire at Corner Salvage damages building

The Leitchfield Fire and Police Departments responded to a fire at 302 Cave Mill Road -- the multi-entrance building also has a 204 Harrison Street address -- at about 11:30 on Monday morning.

The front portion of the building, which houses Corner Salvage, a business owned by Marty Higdon, was ablaze when firefighters arrived. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to only an office and kitchen area located at the front of the building, although rest of the structure did experience heavy smoke damage.

After putting out the fire, firefightfers quickly employed smoke blowers to clear the large amount of smoke from the building. Leitchfield Utilities was also dispatched to the building after the fire was extinguished to turn off the water.

The scene was cleared by the Fire Department at 1:30.

There were no injuries reported.
