Two Leitchfield residents seriously injured in motorcycle accident

The Grayson County Sheriff and Leitchfield Fire Departments, along with EMS, responded to a motorcycle accident at 2373 Salt River Road just before 7:30 on Wednesday night.

A late model Harley-Davidson Road King, operated by 52-year old John Marshall of Leitchfield, was traveling eastbound, when, coming out of a curve in the road, the motorcycle left the pavement and traveled parallel to the road in a grassy area. Marshall was unable to drive the motorcycle back on the roadway, instead, the motorcycle traveled down into a ditch with high grass and weeds.

For nearly 200 feet, the Harley-Davidson traveled in the ditch before colliding with a metal culvert, which runs underneath the driveway at 2373 Salt River Road. Marshall's passenger, 53-year old Dayna Baker of Leitchfield, was found with her upper body inside the circular culvert, while Marshall was laying face down on top of the culvert.

The motorcycle came to rest at the top of an embankment, approximatley 15 feet from Marshall and Baker.

Both motorcycle riders, who were wearing helmets, suffered life-threatening injuries and were sped to Twin Lakes Medical Center by EMS. Marshall and Baker were then air-lifted by Air Methods and Air Evac to the University of Louisville Hospital.
