Over a dozen 'smash and grab' thefts from vehicles have E-town police searching for suspects caught on tape

Elizabethtown police are investigating several “smash and grab” thefts from automobiles and are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspects.

On Tuesday afternoon at approximately 4:10, authorities responded to 1901 Ring Road at Freeman Lake Park on the report of a theft from a vehicle. Over the course of the rest of the day and into the evening, police received 12 more calls about similar thefts.

Police said that in each of the crimes, property was removed either by shattering the window of the vehicle, or accessing the vehicle through an unlocked door. It appears that in most of the thefts a purse
was left inside the car in plain view.

Police obtained surveillance video and still photographs of the suspects from a nearby Target and Walgreens, along with another retail outlet.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspects is asked to contact the Elizabethtown Police Department at 270-765-4125.
