Early Saturday morning, Kentucky State Police and the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic safety checkpoint in Hartford.
At the roadblock, police came into contact with 24-year-old Alex M. Bowles and 27-year-old Chasity J. Jaggers, both of Louisville. Through an investigation, police discovered both Bowles and Jaggers were in possession of suspected methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Bowles was also in possession of opiates, and was operating a vehicle under the influence, police said.
Bowles was arrested and charged with trafficking in and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in and possession of a controlled substance (opiates), trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, tampering with physical evidence, and DUI.
Jaggers was arrested and charged with possession controlled substance (methamphetamine).
Both are being held in the Ohio County Detention Center on $10,000 cash bonds.
