The University of Kentucky student arrested on November 8 after reporting false threats against the UK campus now faces federal charges.

UK President Eli Capilouto said in a press release at the time of the incident that “the UK Police Department received information from a social media post that contained an unsubstantiated threat involving the White Hall Classroom Building.”

The UK PD and Fayette County law enforcement worked with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force in tracking down the origin of the threat.

That investigation led authorities to 19-year-old Haily L. Duvall, who admitted to police that she made-up the threats. The threats suggested an attack at the White Hall Classroom Building was imminent.

As investigators were interviewing Duvall the day after she reported the threats, Duvall tried to log onto her Snapchat account, leading to authorities observing one of the social media accounts connected to the threats on her cell phone screen.

Initially charged with filing a false police report and terroristic threatening, Duvall has now been federally charged with making threatening communications and false statements.

She is being held in the Woodford County Detention Center.
