Saturday night at approximately 9:00, the Leitchfield Fire Department responded to a fire on the roof of OFS Brands.

Upon arriving at the expansive facility, firefighters found that a sawdust hopper in the back of the building had caught fire, with heavy smoke and flames visible.

Fire personnel battled the blaze on the roof and positioned firefighters inside the structure as a precaution. Much of the roof in the area had to be peeled back so firefighters could completely extinguish the blaze.

Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall said that while he is not certain, a “faulty bearing” may have ignited the blaze.

Firefighters remained on the scene until 11:25 Saturday night. There were no injuries reported.

The Leitchfield Police Department and Grayson County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.

In December 2018, former Leitchfield Mayor William Thomason announced that OFS Brands, a furniture maker located at 1010 Salt River Road, would expand its workforce by 75 employees, a figure that has since been increased to 103 new employees.
