A man has been arrested after pointing a handgun at a group of people and later fleeing police.

On Sunday afternoon at about 2:15, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police and Hartford Police Department responded to a report of a man, 27-year-old Alan Caldera, of Whitesville, making threats with a firearm at a residence on Kelly Cemetery Road, off Hwy 69 between Fordsville and Dundee.

Ohio County Sheriff Tracy Beatty said that upon arriving at the scene, police determined that Caldera had brandished a pistol and aimed it at four people before firing the gun toward an empty vehicle.

He then left the scene in a Ford 500.

Beatty said about two hours later, at 4:25, the vehicle was located at Hunter Trailer Court in Hartford. When police attempted to make contact with Caldera he fled in the Ford.

Multiple law enforcement agencies joined the pursuit as Caldera fled north on Hwy 231. With assistance from state police, Beatty said spike strips were used at the intersection of Hwy 231 and Pleasant Ridge Road, disabling the vehicle. Caldera was then taken into custody.

During a search of Caldera and the vehicle police located a quantity of methamphetamine.

He was charged with seven counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, two counts of criminal mischief, criminal trespassing, trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a control substance (methamphetamine), DUI (aggravating circumstances), reckless driving, resisting arrest, terroristic threatening, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also served with a failure to appear warrant.

Caldera was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center.
