Woman arrested after stealing over $20,000 worth of luggage from Louisville airport

A woman has been arrested for stealing luggage at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.

Carrie Welch, 33, was charged with theft after twice stealing passengers’ luggage and returning to the airport a third time. Police said Welch was seen on surveillance video stealing luggage on February 2 and February 14. She was arrested on Saturday.

The items taken in the first theft were worth more than $12,000, and the items taken in the second theft were valued at nearly $10,000, according to police.

Welch was lodged in Louisville Metro Corrections.
