The Grayson County Health Department (GCHD) has released a coronavirus (COVID-19) update.

The health department said Tuesday morning that six new cases of the virus have been confirmed in the county since the department’s last update on Thursday, representing a significant drop in cases after 22 new cases were reported between Tuesday and Thursday of last week.

The newly reported cases increase Grayson County’s COVID-19 victim count to 418 since the onset of the pandemic.

Health officials said 22 cases are “active,” indicating a positive test, a drop of 10 active cases since Thursday.

The GCHD said 380 patients have recovered from the virus.

The county now has had 173 cases of the virus diagnosed since August 25 (5.1 per day).

No new deaths were reported, leaving the county’s death toll at 16 victims. Two Grayson County deaths are “under state review,” according to the GCHD.
