Two fugitives from Louisville and another man have been arrested in eastern Kentucky with a pound of nearly pure methamphetamine.

In a coordinated drug investigation, the Laurel and Knox County Sheriff’s Office located the three suspects in a Hyundai Sonata off Cumberland Gap Parkway, about 10 miles south of London, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

During a search of the vehicle, police found about one pound of methamphetamine. Root said the meth “appears to be 90 percent pure.” The methamphetamine has a street value between $25,000 and $30,000. Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith said he “believes the meth was headed to Knox County” for distribution.

Deputies arrested two fugitives, 30-year-old Deandre M. Johnson and 23-year-old Bennasha K. Harris, both wanted on felony charges out of Jefferson County. Also arrested was 26-year-old Robert Bright, of Louisville.

All three suspects were charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and lodged in Laurel County Corrections.
