GC High School staff member tests positive for COVID-19

Grayson County Schools announced on Tuesday that a staff member has tested positive for coronavirus.

The district said a Grayson County High School staff member tested positive for the virus “from a non-school exposure.” The staff member “last reported to work on Friday, October 23,” according to school officials.

“Through contact tracing, the Grayson County Health Department, in coordination with school health professionals and staff, has identified and notified those school contacts who are recommended to quarantine,” the district said.

As a result, 24 students and two staff members were asked to quarantine.

According to the Kentucky Department for Public Health, Grayson County Schools has had 13 students and four staff members ever test positive, out of approximately 4,000 students and 600 staff members.

As of Tuesday, 24 students and four staff members are quarantined due to school-related contacts, with 58 students and five staff members quarantined due to non-school-related contacts (11 of the 58 students quarantined due to non-school-related contacts are virtual learners).
