A central Kentucky man has been accused of leaving his disabled wife inside a pickup truck for five days.

On Saturday, the 48-year-old victim told police her husband and caretaker, 51-year-old Michael T. Redmon, of Frankfort, left her in a pickup truck since July 12 after she asked to be taken to Franklin Regional Medical Center. According to media outlets, the victim, who suffers from cognitive issues, told authorities that she asked her husband for help multiple times from inside the truck, but he refused to remove her from the vehicle or take her to the hospital.

Redmon eventually transported his wife to the hospital on Saturday and upon arriving, the nursing staff requested a lift assist from EMS because the victim was sticking to the truck seat and was covered in urine and feces. She had several sores on her body, and her skin was deteriorating in some areas.

Redmon was arrested Saturday night and charged with first-degree criminal abuse and lodged in the Franklin County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
