Three people have been arrested in Edmonson County on drug charges after being found parked at a “Baptizing Hole.”

Wednesday night at approximately 11:30, the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies observed a Hyundai Sonata parked at the Rhoda Creek “Baptizing Hole” on Chalybeate Road. Deputies made contact with the driver, 39-year-old Jason W. Abney, of Mammoth Cave, and detected the strong odor of marijuana.

A male and female were also located in the vehicle, with both refusing to identify themselves. They were later identified as 22-year-old Ariel D. Meeks, of Brownsville, and 24-year-old Justin D. Smith, of Bowling Green.

All three suspects were detained, with deputies finding methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.

All three suspects were arrested, with deputies discovering Meeks and Smith had warrants for their arrest.

All three suspects were charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest marks at least the third time Abney has been charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Meeks was also served with an Edmonson County warrant for failure to appear on charges stemming from numerous vehicle violations. Smith was served a complaint warrant out of Allen County for receiving stolen property, as well as a parole violation warrant out of Warren County.

All three suspects were lodged in the Hart County Jail. Abney is no longer listed as an inmate.
