A Hartford man has been arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop on the Western Kentucky Parkway in Ohio County.

Ohio County Sheriff Tracy Beatty said the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force and a deputy with the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office drug interdiction unit conducted the stop for “traffic violations.”

As police approached the vehicle, being driven by 49-year-old Mark Coy, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. K-9 Officer Astro was deployed and indicated the presence of narcotics inside of the vehicle, police said. During a search, authorities located “several” oxycodone pills, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Further investigation showed Coy was driving on a suspended license.

He was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substance, prescription controlled substance not in its proper container, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a suspended license.

He was lodged in the Ohio County Jail but is no longer listed as an inmate.
