The Grayson County High School bass fishing team reeled in a strong performance at Friday and Saturday’s KHSAA state championship.

The team, which entered as the Region 1 champions, entered four total boats into the competition held on Kentucky Lake.

River Blanton and Cody Saltsman led the way for the Cougars finishing in 11th place overall. The pair caught eight total fish over the two days on the water.

Other finishers for Grayson County included Jonathan Williams/Bradly Webb (37th), Kagen Floyd/Jackson Weedman (59th), and Braeden Sadler/Karter Willoughby (79th).

“What an amazing weekend and year for our team,” the team posted on its Facebook page. “We could not have done this without an amazing group of captains, parents, and sponsors thank all of you for what you do.”

Blanton and Sadler will return to the water for the SAF National Championship that will be held from June 22-25 at McFarland Park in Florence, Alabama.
