The Grayson County High School football team will induct six former athletes into the program’s hall of fame.

Marty Haycraft, Norman Chaffins, Ryan Davis, Brack Vickery, Lynn Payton, and Matt Hayes will join the prestigious group of gridiron Cougars.

This year’s class puts a focus on the teams between 1986-1994.

“The (GCHS) Football Hall of Fame is not the official high school Hall of Fame,” current Cougar assistant coach Kevin Embry said in the release of the inductees. “Its purpose is to recognize former Cougar football players who were excellent players and represent past teams and the other former players that laid the foundation for Cougar football.”

Each player that has been inducted into the hall of fame will have their name placed on a board that hangs in the team’s locker room.

The hall of fame ceremony will be held prior to Grayson County’s football scrimmage against Hopkins County Central on August 12 at around 6:30 p.m.
