Grayson County High School golfer Jackson Mayes has been named the 2022 Bluegrass Player of the Year for the 15-18 age division.

Mayes finished with 877.0 total points in the competition which was eight points higher than Glasgow’s Bo Shelton to pick up the win.

To accumulate points, golfers compete in different tournaments from around the commonwealth between April and July.

This summer, the sophomore picked up wins at both Elizabethtown CC and Bardstown CC while also finishing in second place in seven other competitions.

On the high school circuit last season, Mayes finished third in the region before qualifying for the KHSAA state championship where he made the cut.

The 2022 Grayson County golf team is set to open the regular season later this month.
