Noel William McCray, age 85, of Clarkson, KY, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 8th, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home.

He was born March 22nd, 1937, in Beebe, AR. He was the son of the late Hugh and Mabelle Leiting McCray. He married the love of his life, Eleanor (Jones) McCray, on May 31st, 1958. They lived in many states during their time together and were devoted to each other for over 64 wonderful years.

Noel loved his family and worked very hard to provide for them. He loved carpentry, golfing, listening to music, fishing, genealogy and he was self-proclaimed “grunt work” boat builder. He also loved looking through old photographs and sharing them with his children. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family.

He served in the United States Air Force for 8 years in multiple locations and received and Outstanding Airman Award in 1965. He worked for Tektronix in Greensboro, NC for 3 years and worked Hewlett Packard for over 20 years and retired in 1993 as a District Support Manager. Shortly, after retiring, he moved his family to Kentucky and purchased the Nolin Lake Motel & Restaurant in Wax, KY, where he was the owner/operator along with his wife for over 20 years.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carrie McCray; two brothers, Hugh and Terry McCray and a grandson, Aaron Matlock.

He is survived by a son, Mike (Jennifer) McCray of Glasgow, KY and three daughters, Merideth (Shannon) Fields of Upton, KY, Lori (Kevin) Skinner of Bethpage, TN and Linda (Tommy) Butler of Catoosa, OK. He was blessed with eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Rogers-Oller Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central at a later date.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 PM, Friday and after 9 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
