A huge fire has destroyed a mobile home in Big Clifty.

The East Grayson and Clarkson Fire Departments responded to the blaze Friday morning at approximately 5:10 in the 5600 block of Spurrier Road.

Upon arriving on the scene, firefighters found the right side of the mobile home on fire. The lone male occupant of the trailer made it out safely.

Firefighters worked for about two-and-a-half hours extinguishing the fire and conducting an overhaul (checking for hot spots).

Clarkson fire personnel cleared the scene at about 7:00 a.m. while East Grayson cleared at 7:30 a.m.

Then, around 15 minutes after East Grayson FD cleared the scene, a passing motorist informed Grayson County Dispatch that flames were visible through windows on the left side of the trailer.

The East Grayson, Clarkson and Leitchfield Fire Departments along with Grayson County Deputy Caleb Owens responded to the reignition and found flames shooting out of the windows in the home, catching trees and grass on fire.

Firefighters battled the blaze for another couple of hours before all the flames were extinguished.

It’s unclear how the fire began.

No injuries were reported. The bulk of the firefighters had cleared the scene by about 10:30 Friday morning.
