The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating after a trooper fatally shot a man in Harrison County on Sunday.

The investigation has so far shown that when troopers responded to a domestic disturbance at approximately 11:00 Sunday night in Cynthiana, the suspect, 50-year-old Ramon Morales, had left the scene in a Chevrolet van.

“Shortly after, it was reported that a vehicle matching the description of Mr. Morales’ had crashed into another car on KY-36 and was leaving the scene of that collision,” according to state police.

Later that evening, a trooper located Morales standing on the shoulder of the roadway in front of the residence where the earlier disturbance occurred. During the interaction with Morales, the trooper shot the suspect.
