A Hardin County man has been jailed after attacking a woman during an argument over the couple’s relationship.
James G. Reece, 35, of Vine Grove, was arrested by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and charged with first-degree strangulation (domestic violence) and second-degree assault (domestic violence).
The incident began when Reece and a woman were in an argument “over their relationship and moving out of their shared apartment,” according to a report by The News-Enterprise.
Reece is accused of hitting the woman in the head, including punching her in the forehead. When the victim attempted to get away from Reece, he pushed her into a dryer resulting in the victim falling. The suspect then picked up the woman by her hair and covered her nose and mouth as he inhibited the victim’s breathing.
The woman was able to break free from Reece, as she grabbed a child and fled the apartment. The victim made it to a gas station where she called 911.
Reece is lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
