Human remains discovered off Richardsville Road in northwest Warren County are those of a man who disappeared nearly six years ago.
Human remains were found in the 7200 block of Richardsville Road on January 8, 2026, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
The remains were transported to the Kentucky State Police Office of Medical Examination which determined the remains are those of 57-year-old Raif Velic, the sheriff’s office announced on Tuesday.
Velic was reported missing from his home on Pruitt Road, approximately 8.5 miles from where his body was found, on October 18, 2020. Velic left his home on foot and without his phone.
“This man has a serious medical condition and the prolonged exposure to the environment will only worsen his condition,” Warren County Emergency Management Director Ronnie Pearson told WNKY.com when Velic disappeared.
Police said foul play is not suspected in either Velic’s disappearance or death.
