Body of man killed in boating accident recovered from Mercer Co. lake

A recovery team has located the body of man killed in a boating accident on Herrington Lake in Mercer County.

The Mercer County Fire District said the body of 25-year-old Nazar Svintizelskiy was found Monday afternoon at approximately 3:50 in 184 feet of water.

His body was transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

The accident

As K105 reported on Monday, the Mercer County Fire District said first responders were dispatched to a boat collision on Herrington Lake along Herrington Woods Road on Saturday shortly after 8:00 p.m.

One person suffered “traumatic injuries” and was airlifted to University of Kentucky Medical Center. Three other people were transported to a Danville hospital.

WKYT.com reports that the accident happened “when a boat hit a pontoon boat.”
