A local internet provider is offering a substantial reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect[s] responsible for multiple copper thefts in Grayson County.
Kinetic (formerly Windstream) is offering a $10,000 reward “for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of individuals associated with these crimes,” Victoria R. Carman, Kinetic Communications – Media Director told K105.
The copper thefts have primarily occurred in the Caneyville and Clarkson areas, and resulted in over 500 customers losing internet capabilities.
“In total, we lost numerous locations including 2 cell towers across the last 2-3 weeks resulting in over 500 impacted customers, with thefts occurring as recently as two nights ago (Monday),” Carman said. “This results in dangerous outages for our customers and threatens essential services, including emergency responders like fire, police and 911, and healthcare facilities.”
Kinetic, according to Carman, is “actively collaborating with local law enforcement to combat this crisis, implementing enhanced security measures like night vision cameras and GPS trackers.”
There are immediate response efforts underway to restore connectivity to negatively impacted customers, Carman stated.
Anyone with information regarding these copper thefts is asked to contact Kentucky State Police at 270-766-5078, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office at 270-259-324, or call Kinetic’s toll free number at 1-855-268-2211.
