A Kentucky State Police trooper shot a western Kentucky man who pointed a gun him.
The shooting occurred Thursday evening at approximately 11:00 on Hwy 60 near Morganfield.
The incident began when a Morganfield Police Department cruiser was struck while officers were working an “unrelated traffic stop,” KSP said. The vehicle then fled the scene.
Troopers responded to assist and located the vehicle on Hwy 60 west of Morganfield.
Upon seeing the trooper, the suspect, 50-year-old Josh Wallace, of Sturgis, pulled to the shoulder of the roadway. As the trooper approached the vehicle, Wallace exited the car and pointed a handgun at the trooper, resulting in the trooper shooting Wallace.
He was transported to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, where he is listed in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
