A Russell County man has been busted with controlled substances “with an approximate street value of $25,000,” according to Kentucky State Police.
Kentucky State Police and the Russell County Sheriff’s Office conducted a joint investigation where 38-year-old Buddy T. Bernard, of Russell Springs, was developed as a suspect.
Law enforcement arrived at Bernard’s residence on Briar Patch Road in Russell County on Thursday evening and observed “an SUV parked with an open back hatch and several individuals standing around the vehicle. As the troopers walked by the SUV, they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” state police said in a press release.
Police then located about two pounds of methamphetamine and eight ounces of marijuana in the vehicle. Further investigation uncovered a large sum of cash and drug paraphernalia.
Bernard was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.
