Former Grayson County High School Lady Cougars basketball star Kylee Gorby has been hired as an assistant basketball coach at Georgetown College.

Gorby played five years for the Lady Cougars, amassing over 1,000 points in her illustrious career. She was named First Team All-Region in 2012, and First Team All-District in both 2011 and 2012.

Her Lady Cougars squads won five consecutive district tourney titles, and were Third Region Runner-up in 2011 and 2012. As a senior in 2012, Gorby averaged 16 points and five assists per game.

While at GCHS, Gorby also participated in cross country, softball and tennis, as well as being named a Kentucky Governor’s Scholar.

After what was reported as “an extensive search,” Georgetown College women's basketball coach James Jackson settled on Gorby because of her passion for the game, and ability to effectively interact with players.

"Kylee stood out to me from day one," Jackson told the college’s website about the recent Asbury graduate. "Starting with our phone conversations to her on campus interview she made this an easy decision for me. Her passion for the game, willingness and desire to learn, unlimited amount of energy and how well she related and interacted with our athletes made
her the clear favorite.”

As a point guard for Asbury, the 5-9 Gorby helped the Eagles to the program’s winningest four year stretch in school history at 98-34, as well as back-to-back national tournament appearances and KIAC tournament titles in 2011 and 2012.

The 2011 national tournament appearance was the school’s first ever in the event.

In her senior year at Asbury, Gorby was selected First Team All-KIAC and to the NAIA All-Tournament team. For her career, Gorby scored 1,197 points, dished out 410 assists and snagged 452 rebounds.

"I am very honored and excited to be at Georgetown College," Gorby said. "I am very thankful for the opportunity Coach Jackson has given me and look forward to helping him build the women's basketball program into a national title contender. With the outstanding support we have from the college, we have everything we need to make it happen."
