A teacher at a private school in Louisville has been arrested for having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.
Media reports indicate the teacher, 36-year-old Andrew Campbell, taught at Louisville Classical Academy when he engaged in sex acts with a female student at least six times. LCA is located at 2005 Douglas Boulevard, in the Highlands area of Louisville.
The incidents allegedly occurred in part at Waterfront Park and in a field near Sixth and Hill Streets, in Old Louisville.
Campbell was arrested and charged with six counts of sodomy and two counts of sexual abuse. He’s being held in Louisville Metro Corrections on a $5,000 cash bond.
Campbell's arrest continues a troubling trend of teachers being arrested for having sexual contact with students. Since October 2016, teachers or coaches in Bowling Green, Elizabethtown, Muhlenberg County, Boyd County, LaRue County, and Grayson County have been arrested and charged with sex-related crimes against students.
