Kentucky officials say unemployment rates have increased in 96 of the state's 120 counties between June 2016 and June of this year.

The state Office of Employment and Training says the unemployment rate fell in 20 counties during that period and stayed the same in four counties.

Woodford County boasted the state's lowest jobless rate at 3.8 percent, followed by Shelby County at 4.2 percent and Oldham and Spencer Counties at 4.3 percent each. Magoffin County had the state's highest unemployment rate at 18 percent, followed by Leslie County at 12.2 percent.

Grayson County experienced a steady decline in jobless numbers this year (until June), as the county began 2017 with an 8.3 unemployment rate in January, a number that has declined in each successive month, falling to 7.4 percent in February, 6.5 percent in March, 5.6 percent in April, and 5.1 percent in May.

In June, though, Grayson County was one of the 96 counties that experienced a jobless rate increase, as the unemployment number rose to 6.4 percent. Grayson County’s June jobless rate, however, is lower than June 2016’s 6.6 percent.
