Thursday morning at approximately 11:15, Kentucky State Police responded to mile marker 24 on I-65 on the report of a two-vehicle accident involving a semi-truck.

Police said the initial investigation indicated that 22-year-old Justin Ferguson, of Huntington, West Virginia, was driving a 2004 Lexus passenger car in the center lane of the interstate when tried to merge into the left lane. A vehicle was already in the left lane, though, resulting in
Ferguson steering right to avoid a collision. This caused his car to spin back into the center lane and in front of a semi-truck, being driven by 56-year-old Gerardo Garcia, of Chicago.

The two vehicles then collided.

Ferguson was transported to The Medical Center; Gerardo was uninjured in the accident.
