Thursday morning at approximately 5:30, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkson Fire Department and EMS responded to the 116 mile marker of eastbound Western Kentucky Parkway on the report of a motorcycle versus deer accident.

Upon arriving at the scene, Deputy Fred Norder found that a Yamaha motorcycle, being driven by 54-year-old Anthony R. Dodd, of Caneyville, had struck a deer as he traveled eastbound on the WK Parkway.

Based on marks at the scene, it appears after striking the deer, which flew about 160 feet after being hit, Dodd laid the motorcycle down on the pavement, sliding for about 160 feet before the cycle began flipping for about another 120 feet as it left the shoulder of the roadway.

The bike then traveled about 120 feet down an embankment before coming to rest against a fence. In total, the motorcycle traveled 405 feet after impact.

Dodd was transported by EMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center with severe road rash and a back injury.
