On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 12:00, the Clarkson Police Department, assisted by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, arrested two suspects on drug and theft charges.

According to Clarkson Police Chief Buck Meredith, Rodney Tomes, of Leitchfield, was driving a 2013 Ford passenger car in the parking lot of Clarkson Elementary School. Investigating the suspicious vehicle, police learned that the Ford had been reported stolen out of Hardin County. A female, Sherry Wilkins, of Clarkson, was a passenger in the car.

Meredith said as a Grayson County Deputy Sheriff, he originally arrested Tomes and Wilkins in 2012 on methamphetamine charges. Tomes was released from prison on that conviction in February.

Upon a subsequent search of the vehicle, police located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Tomes was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property (over $10,000), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wilkins arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and public intoxication.

Both were lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
