Denver (Woody) Aubrey Wood, age 78, of Leitchfield, KY passed away Monday, September 25, 2017, at
Norton’s Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born June 22, 1939.

One of 15 children he was raised in a one room farm house and learned the value of hard work at an early age. Despite only having and eighth grade education Woody was a brilliant man who could fix anything. He owned and operated Woody’s Gas Station (Gulf/BP) at Taylor Boulevard and Central Avenue for 38 years. In addition to running a successful full service gas station he took care of a 43 acre farm, where over the years he raised tobacco, cattle, and bred Belgian Draft horses. On June 15, 2012, Woody became an ordained Baptist Minister. Woody loved being a minister and had a gift for sharing the gospel with others.

Right by his side, through all his successes, was Regina (Jennie) Wood, his beloved wife of 65 years who
passed last year. Together they raised two amazing sons Denver Wood, Jr. (deceased) and Tim Wood
(Louisville, KY). In their home on King Road (which Woody designed and built) they helped raise their
grandchildren Todd and Chris Wood and their great grandchildren Jessica and Michael Wood, Ethan
Carter and Jacob Pierce. Their home was one full of love and energy that Woody and Jennie had in
abundance.

Woody loved to tell and hear a good joke. He was a strong man that never hesitated to use that
strength to help others. He was a proud man and all those who knew him were proud to call him their
friend. Woody’s family asks you to come celebrate his life and your stories about him with them at the
Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield, KY.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m on Thursday, September 28, 2017 and from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00
p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017, prior to the funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at the Dermitt Funeral
Home. Burial will be at the Anneta Church Cemetery.
