On Saturday morning at approximately 7:30, the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office responded to northbound William Natcher Parkway on the report of a two-vehicle accident.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found that Raylynn Ward, of Beaver Dam, was northbound on the Natcher Parkway as she drove behind James Decker, also of Beaver Dam. Ward attempted to pass Decker, but she ran off the right side of the roadway, over-corrected and hit Decker’s vehicle in the left rear.
The impact caused Decker’s vehicle to go into a slide before flipping several times, according to Ohio County Sheriff Tracy Beatty. The vehicle came to rest in the southbound lanes.
Decker’s wife, Ethel Decker, was airlifted to a trauma center in Louisville where she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday.
James Decker was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
Ward was not injured in the accident.
