Elmo L. Cooper, 83, of Caneyville, passed away Wednesday, December 6th, 2017 at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Friday, April 13th, 1934 in Grayson County, the son of the late Ray and Elfie (Bratcher) Cooper. Elmo was a member of the New Hope Church. He was the owner and operator of Cooper’s Vinyl Siding and Guttering. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved to garden.
Elmo is survived by his wife of more than 64 years, Nellie (Day) Cooper; one son, Larry Wayne Cooper of Caneyville; one daughter, Cathy Sue Becker (Dr. Paul) of Vista, CA; four grandchildren, Chadwick Cooper (Sara), Todd Weedman (Cassandra), Brandon Becker (Jennifer) and Jessica Becker; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Weedman, Emma Kay Cooper, Eli Cooper and Lynnlee Becker; one brother, Ray Cooper of Kuttawa, KY and two sisters, Tonita Embry of Morgantown and Rita Brooks of Jeffersonville, IN. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Carmen Patterson and Loretta Alvarez.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 9th at 1:00 pm at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Pastor Jim McIntosh will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Friday from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am until time of service.
