Sunday night at approximately 6:50, Kentucky State Police conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 231 in Ohio County.

Through an investigation, it was determined a passenger in the vehicle, 24-year-old Harlen Roebke, of Hartford, had warrants for three probation violations for felony offenses. Roebke attempted to flee police but was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit, authorities said.

Roebke was arrested and charged with assault of a police officer, public intoxication, fleeing or evading police, and resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Ohio County Jail where he’s being held on a $5,000 cash bond.

Roebke was arrested in Ohio County in April 2017 for possession of a controlled substance and violating his parole. Only a couple of weeks later, in early May, he escaped from the Ohio County Detention Center in the middle of the night, but was captured at about 7:00 that morning after an Ohio County Sheriff’s deputy drove to Grayson County to meet with a Grayson County deputy in an effort to find the escapee (in the past, Roebke had hidden from law enforcement near the Do-Stop Grocery in Caneyville).

While waiting for the Grayson County deputy, the Ohio County deputy noticed Roebke’s vehicle parked at the Do-Stop Grocery. After seeing the deputy, Roebke tried to flee through the ceiling of the restroom, but was apprehended.
