A Daviess County man is facing multiple charges after being involved in a domestic disturbance and suffering a gunshot wound to his leg.

Police said the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 5800 block of May Road on Saturday afternoon after receiving a report of shots being fired as neighbors were having a physical altercation.

When authorities arrived, they found 47-year-old Wendell Warner, of Calhoun, inside his home with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and later released.

An investigation revealed that Warner and his wife were in a physical altercation when a neighbor intervened by trying to get Warner’s wife out of the house. At some point during the incident, someone brandished a firearm and Warner was shot in the leg, according to authorities.

Warner was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault, burglary and unlawful imprisonment and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center on a $15,000 cash bond.

Police did not reveal who shot Warner. The investigation into the incident continues.
