Sunday morning at approximately 3:15, Kentucky State Police and the Hart County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at 370 G. Shelton Road, in northern Hart County.
Upon arriving at the residence, police found two people had suffered gunshot wounds. The victims, 56-year-old Jeffrey Nie, and his wife, 58-year-old Barbara Nie, were found in an upstairs bedroom, with Jeffrey Nie suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
Police said Barbara Nie was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital and later taken to University of Louisville Hospital. She is listed in serious but stable condition. Jeffrey Nie was pronounced dead at the scene by Hart County Coroner’s Office.
Detectives processed the scene throughout the early morning hours and upon completion of a preliminary investigation arrested the victims’ biological daughter, 21-year-old Brina Nie, who resided at the residence with her parents.
She was charged with murder and first-degree assault and lodged in the Hart County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
