Late Monday night, the Hart County Sheriff’s Office discovered a marijuana grow operation, firearms and stolen goods inside a Hardyville home while investigating a theft.

Hart County deputies had recovered a 16-foot utility trailer that was stolen from Green County, and during that investigation, a search warrant was obtained and executed at a residence in Hardyville.

Hart County Sheriff Boston Hensley said that during a search of the home, police discovered an indoor marijuana grow operation with 114 plants, grow lights and drug paraphernalia. Police also seized several firearms and a commercial ice machine that had been stolen from a Hart County home.

Authorities arrested 28-year-old Veachel Thomas Poynter, of Hardyville, and charged him with two counts of receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, burglary, cultivating marijuana, and being a persistent felony offender.

Also arrested was 35-year-old Jason Ray Luke, of Cave City. He was charged with receiving stolen property.

Both men were lodged in the Hart County Jail. Poynter is being held on two bonds totaling $30,000.
