Lady Cougars get best of Larue County in E’Town

Playing summer games in Elizabethtown, the Lady Cougar basketball team picked up a 31-23 win over Larue County last Tuesday.

The Lady Hawks hit a pair of three-pointers and two free throws to take an early six-point lead, 8-2 at the 14:51 mark of the first half. The two teams traded baskets to make it 10-4 with 11:19 left in the first half, when the Lady Cougars took control of the game.

Kenzie Renfrow scored six of her 10 first-half points, including a three-pointer with 10:21 left, and the Lady Cougars closed out the half with 10 unanswered points to lead 14-10 at the break.

Grayson County then scored the first five points of the second half to make it 15 straight points and a nine-point advantage, 19-10 at the 15:02 mark.

The Lady Hawks were able to close the gap to just four points, 23-19 with 8:03 left to play, but the Lady Cougars reeled off five straight to lead 28-19 with 3:47 left, and Larue was never closer than six points the rest of the way.

Renfrow led all scorers with 18 points, and she added two rebounds and four steals. Laura Vincent scored eight points, and led the team with six rebounds and added three steals. Bailey Snyder had four points and five boards, while Ella Robinson closed out the scoring with one point and she added four rebounds.
