Elizabethtown, KY – Volunteering your time and service is one of the greatest gifts you can give. It also provides invaluable experiences for the volunteers. Just ask the tens of thousands of people who came together to create permanent and positive change during United Way’s Day of Action. Held nationally on and around June 21st each year, Day of Action is an opportunity for volunteers, donors and advocates to fight with United Way for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community. It also offers a snapshot of what United Way does all year long – unite and energize people around solutions to improve lives and strengthen communities.
From sorting food to sprucing up a local playground, over 100 Metalsa associates volunteered on June 25th to create lasting change in our community. Organized by Thomas Wheatly, Learning and Development Specialist with Metalsa USA, volunteers were divided into teams and lent their muscle and expertise to local nonprofits such as Feeding America, Salvation Army, SpringHaven, Helping Hand of Hope, Kiwanis Club of Hardin County, and Grayson County Alliance.
“Metalsa has as a part of its culture a very service-oriented mindset, and the partnership with United Way of Central Kentucky for the Day of Action was a great showcase of that commitment. We have received great feedback from our team members and are glad to offer the opportunity to give time in service. We are extremely pleased with the success of the event and have already identified additional opportunities for future service,” says Matthew Carter, Plant Coordinator at Metalsa Elizabethtown. “As a supplier of Automotive Structural parts, our facility employs nearly 2000 individuals from all over the Central Kentucky and Southern Indiana region, making us a highly influential entity in the local economy. Together, we will better the community through continuous improvement and loyal service.”
