Saturday afternoon at approximately 4:40, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police and Kentucky Fish & Wildlife responded to the 200 block of Walleye Road on the report of a violent dispute among neighbors.

Upon arriving at the scene, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Fred Norder and Deputy Kelsey Overton, Kentucky State Police Trooper Joey Beasley and Fish & Wildlife personnel found that a dispute among neighbors had escalated into a fight among several people in the middle of the roadway.

It’s unclear what began the disturbance.

After the fight was over, the daughter of one of the participants texted her brother photos of injuries suffered by their father, according to police. The brother, 22-year-old Easton Phelps, of Owensboro, who was on a boat on Rough River Lake, returned from the water and began trying to entice the man who fought his father out of his residence, going so far as to break a window next to the front door of the home (where children were present).

Phelps suffered a major cut to his arm as he broke the window and was transported by private means to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center where, according to Dep. Overton, he received approximately 17 stitches. Two other participants in the fight were also taken by private means to the ER for treatment.

Police could be seen interviewing several people at the scene, including at the home where the alleged crime took place, as well as across the street from that residence. Multiple witnesses several houses down the street from the location of the incident were also interviewed by law enforcement.

After conducting interviews, police traveled to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center and arrested Phelps. He was charged with criminal mischief and trespassing and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

As of Monday morning, no one else involved in the incident has been arrested.
