After an Executive Session of the Clarkson City Commission meeting on Monday night, it was announced that the Clarkson Police Department will add a full-time officer to the department.

Currently, Clarkson has two full-time officers; Chief Buck Meredith and Officer Rick Clemons.

Chief Meredith will be responsible for the interviewing and hiring process. He said he is looking for someone with at least one year of experience, and who has been through the police training academy and is certified.

In a related matter, a section of the the city’s maintenance building will be converted into an evidence room for Clarkson PD. Workers will construct a 12-foot wall to enclose and open portion of the building, located just behind and adjacent to the Clarkson City Hall and Community Center, which houses CPD headquarters.

An air conditioner will be installed, as well as surveillance cameras and special locks.
