(Leitchfield, KY) – It’s time again to gather your latest crafting project, needle work, your healthiest plant, or most delicious pie, that of course was grandma’s recipe, and enter it in the county fair showcase. Show-off your talent, or encourage your children to enter their offerings in the 69th Annual Grayson County Fair Sweepstakes Awards various divisions.
Grayson County Extension Family & Consumer Sciences Agent Natalie Taul says, “Family Living and Youth Divisions are a staple at county fairs across the US. They provide friendly competition among community members while showcasing local talents. Participating in these competitions at the county fair provides a sense of pride and accomplishment for an individual. Especially if their item places!”
Each category ribbon placing winner receives a monetary reward, and of course, their prize displayed at the fair all week long. Taul encourages all ages to be involved, “People have many talents, and for some, showcasing their work at the county fair is the only recognition they may receive for that talent. Some may also use their placing at the county fair to promote their talent. “I’ve got the grand champion salsa” or “I’ve got a blue ribbon apple pie!” I think most importantly it teaches all participants quality workmanship and the fact that hard work pays off. ”
Entries must be dropped-off at the Grayson County Fair Grounds on Monday, August 27th between 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
